The Americana Music Association will bestow this prestigious award on Jason and the Scorchers at the annual Americana Honors and Awards show at the Ryman Auditorium on Nashville, Tn. on September 18th. More details can be found on the AMA’s website here: www.americanamusic.org In addition to performing with the original lineup of Jason Ringenberg, Warner Hodges, Jeff Johnson and Perry Baggs at the awards show, the band will play a show after the ceremony at a venue to be announced in Nashville. The AMA’s website specifies that the band’s lineup for this show will be “fronted by Ringenberg and Hodges.” A likely, but unconfirmed, lineup for the club show on Sept. 18th is the same as for the August 30 and 31 shows in Pennsylvania: Ringenberg, Hodges, Kenny Ames on bass and Fenner Castner on drums. If Perry Baggs is feeling well, perhaps we will see him on the drum stool at the show. For fans of the band, this award represents a tremendous honor and a great opportunity to introduce and re-introduce people to the work of this seminal band. Past winners of this award are Willie Nelson, Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, Cowboy Jack Clement, John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver and John Hiatt. The ceremony will be hosted by Jim Lauderdale and will feature a band led by Buddy Miller, who was recently selected by No Depression magazine as their Artist of the Decade.
The band will be helping out the Greater Birmingham Humane Society Benefit by playing the B&A Warehouse at 1531 1st Avenue South at 4:00 PM on July 25th. For more information, go to: http://gimmeshelterbirmingham.com The band is also scheduled to play the Johnstown Folkfest in Johnstown, Pa. on August 30 at 1:00 PM and at 11:45 PM on the 31st. Johnstown is approximately 65 miles east of Pittsburgh. This CD is truly a must-have for all fans of Jason and the Scorchers and alternative country. At two CDs and 30 tracks, it sums up many of the highlights of one of the most talented and charismatic singer-songwriters and bandleaders in American music over the last 25 years.
